Description
Union soldier Nathaniel L. Truell's letters from January 5 and January 6, 1863 are written to his sister, detailing the daily life of a soldier. Truell remarks that "it is the laziest life I ever saw." He describes conditions in camp as well as some of his duties. Truell also comments on the mustering of former black slaves into the Union forces.
